James is a freelance Set and Costume designer and works as a design assistant to Bunny Christie and Ultz. He trained on the Motley Theatre Design Course and has a first-class degree in English Literature and Drama from the University of Manchester.

James was the winner of an Off-West-End Award 2013 for Best Set Designer for Mercury Fur at the Old Red Lion.
